RuleEngine Customization

Hi,

We have a requirement to configure the shipping/payment methods based on certain business rules, example: SoldTo account of the customer.

We have explored the rules engine trail and were able to configure a custom source rule(using custom condition and action) on backoffice. Now we are looking at triggering this rule manually when the user meets a particular business flow on the storefront example: on checkout. We have already explored the possibility of using promotions for this use case and wanted to see if there a better approach with customizing rules engine.

Hybris version: 6.7

Please help, if anyone has done the customization on rules engine or any comments on this would be helpful.
