Hi All,

I am getting below error while trying to promote a connection from one dev to prod.

Promotion Status=Failure : Relationship would not be a tree after update so bailing

I am using SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 6 Patch 4 setup as source and target.

I am getting this error also. We just upgraded to BI4.2sp8. We were not getting this error with BI4.2sp4. I'm getting this error when trying to promote just the connection by itself (we could do this before) and when trying to migrate it as a dependent object.

I was able to get the connection to migrate if I migrated a universe with the connection as a dependent object once. But not since then.

I tried adding the connection to the universe job as an actual object and received this same error with that scenario as well.

1731607 - LCM job Fail to promote a connection Failure : Relationship would not be a tree after upda... says this is due to a conflict between the CUID of the universe or connection but the universe and connection we are migrating does not yet exist in the destination environment.

1997966 - "Failure : Relationship would not be a tree after update so bailing" error on a connection... says that this error is generated because the connection in the source environment is corrupted in a way that it doesn't affect the functionality of the source system. It recommends that you delete the connection and recreate it. I tried this also and it didn't work.

Edit: I also tried promoting the connection using a biar file and that got the same error.

Additional Edit: I tried promoting the connection using the lcm_cli.bat command line and it failed with the same error.
