We are currently encountering a situation wherein products are getting deleted and then re-created by some unknown process.
Day 1: User adds product P1 to a cart, saves the cnd then logs out. Day 2: Due to some operation, product gets deleted and then gets recreated in the online version during the staged to online catalog sync job. Day 3: User tries to restore the previously saved cnd encounters an error.
On investigation, it was observed that the product reference in the Cart Entry was missing. Based on the info attribute of Cart Entry, we were able to determine which product was present in the entry. On checking that product's information, we found that the product was created in the staged catalog on day 1 and in the online catalog on day 2. Obviously that is not valid because the product existed in the online catalog since day 1 (due to nightly run of catalog sync job) and visible on the site. That is why the customers were able to add it to cart in the first place.
If the catalog sync job is the one that is deleting products and recreating, then we need to understand the reason for the same. Will be help for any pointer's / similar experiences on this kind of behaviour. To help us understand this issue better.
Thanks in advance.
