Product Configuration Trail - Error received when attempting to logon to Hybris Backoffice

I receive the following error when attempting to logon to https://electronics.local:9002/backoffice/

Error: Failed to render widget [id='backofficeUserroleChooser', definitionId='com.hybris.backoffice.userRoleChooser', message='The given userID is null!'

Other anomalies which might be related to the above error are: 1. Despite precisely following the Product Configuration Trail - the 'Configuration' button does not appear on the Product Listing Page, even though that it is present on the Product Details' page. 2. Before the above rendering error occurred, I was getting a different error concerned with the master tenant not running. The master tenant issue was overcome by appending the below line to C:\HCPT\hybris\config\tomcat\bin\wrapper.config on my Windows desktop Line: wrapper.java.additional.20=-Dactivate.tenant.fallback=true

Please kindly advise if you have any information that may help me to resolve the above.
