I am new to variant condition wanting understand the difference between these 3.
Precondition vs Selection Condition vs Procedure.
I am not the programming guy therefore it gets difficult to understand syntax and what difference do these make. An example would be helpful.
Request clarification before answering.
Hello ujasmodi97,
You will want to seek out some training as all of these are basic objects used in Variant configuration.
In general:
1) Preconditions - use true/false logic to restrict and hide either characteristics or values of characteristics.
2) Selection conditions - use true/false logic to require characteristics or to "select" BOM items to be included in the BOM.
3) Procedures can be used in a wide variety of logic operations, such as setting a quantity value, preforming math calculations, setting a 1 characteristic value based on another, concatenating a string, executing a function/pfunction, etc..
These links may help you get started or there is a good SAP Press book as well as SAP training courses on Variant Configuration.
