Possibilty to mark contact as obsolete in MKT Cloud?

Dear SAP community,

we are looking for a functionality to mark targeted contacts in MKT cloud system as obsolete. This contacts shall not used to perform further marketing activities (like newsletter sendings, etc.), only their contact data with interaction history must be visible for marketing managers and employees.

We tried to find a matching application job in marketing application job monitor, but there is no job available.

Is there a way to deal with this requirement?

Hi wissing ,

as Kunal already said, this is not possible.

You can use the IsObsolete field to mark the contact as obsolete, but then the Contact is not visible in the Contacts app and can't be used anymore.

As a workaround you could create a Custom Field for Contacts and name it "Is obsolete". In your segmentation in the first segment you can then exclude all Contacts that have e.g. an 'X' as value for that field.

In addition you can maybe create a Custom iFlow which retrieves the Contacts with that value and sets the Marketing Permissions for them to Opt-Out to implement another point of security and make sure that they won't get any emails and so on.

Dear Lukas,

• The requirement seems very strange, one side you want to mark the contact as obsolete, while want to use it's interactions.
• This is not possible in standard design of SAP Marketing Cloud.
• Once the contact is marked as Obsolete, it's not counted in segmentation and hence campaign.

as I wrote we don´t want use interactions from obsolete contact for further marketing activities, we only want to look into the details of interactions. It is very important that these obsolte contacts are still visible in contacts app but the work with them shoud be restricted.

Is there no standard way to deal with our requirement?
