Opt Out - Subscription : using segmentation modelling

Hello Experts,

This is a weird limitation, where we cannot segment the customers based on Opt out or customers who doesn't have any subscriptions.

When i saw the view - CA_D_IC_NEWSLETTER_SUBSCRIPTION, there was a filter on the subscription. I am unsure why it has been build like that.

But what i have done is - I have updated the custom view by removing the filter and try to upload the view in SMC, now i am getting the error as - Key field DB_KEY of CUAND_CE_IC_ROOT, INTERACTIONCONTACTUUID, PARENT_KEY of CUAND_CE_IC_FCET or CUAND_CE_IC_RE, CONTACT_KEY of CUAND_CE_IA_RT, ROOT_KEY of CUAND_CE_IC_FT_D is not part of the view;Import not possible, chec

I was aware that this is applicable for calculation view(CUBE), but since the view - CA_D_IC_NEWSLETTER_SUBSCRIPTION is a dimension view, i am not sure why the message is popping up.

Regardless to above, i want to know how i can resolve the above error or how can I meet the requirement using standard behaviour. anyone can assist or done a similar thing please let me know.

schneidert : We have achieved the modelling to get the opt out for subscription. We uploaded the view and it works for us. Let me know if you need the view information for your project work

Hi mitmayank_bluleader,

how did you do that? What was the problem that the activation failed before?

I'm in contact with SAP Support and they have been able to activate the view which fails in my case.

I will do a remote session with them. Or do you have any ideas what might be the problem?

schneidert : We have created a new custom view. In the view we have just made the replica of the subscription view and made few changes as - remove few filters, added the table CUAN*CE*ROOT table and upload it, it is successful. We can take this offline with you if you have a similar requirement and can be fixed. ? I can show you on my system how it works.

mitmayank_bluleader: I will check that and see if I can open a ticket for it.

I'm not sure if it has something to do with the view of if I did any mistake. Here you can see which problem I have: https://answers.sap.com/questions/13054390/cannot-importactivate-standard-calculation-view-of.html

When opening the Add Custom View app there's a pop-up message:

"In the upcoming releases, the SAP HANA database version 1.0 will be upgraded to SAP HANA 2.0. Due to this change, the SAP HANA studio is no longer supported to model Custom Views. Post upgrade only Analytical Models from the SAP HANA Development Infrastructure (HDI) are supported for import. For modelling you can, for example, use SAP HANA express edition that offers an SAP Web IDE."

And I noticed, that the SQL Statements look a bit different than earlier time. E.g. there's an INVERTED INDIVIDUAL statement which I had to remove even to create the tables (I googled and it seems to have something to do with HANA 2.0). So I'm really not sure if I did anything wrong or if it is another problem.

In the meantime I voted for your request of course.

schneidert : Thanks for your vote, yes, it is a big issue when it comes with messages you show. Even i have also seen these messages and when i tried to upload the view and keep the table definitions, i also go t all many errors. Even i have also removed the inverted individual and Loadable from the table definitions to create those tables.

Again, there was no specific guidelines by SAP to resolve these errors. This is a big limitation.

i am not sure how to get rectify these limitation and issue?

Hello schneidert : yes, you are correct, i have downloaded the package - CA_C_CONTACT_IA_LOCAL_CUSTOMER. I have uploaded the entire package in Eclipse and tried to model the view which relates to subscription. But once i try to upload the view, it gave us an error.

Actually i tried to embed the changed view to the CA_C_CONTACT_IA_LOCAL_CUSTOMER view, but i couldn't do so, as when i tried to activate the standard view, the system throws tens of errors and i am not sure how to resolve it as the activation of standard view is in error. To be honest God knows how this segmentation modelling would be better for SMC space.

The error while uploading the dimension view after removing the filter is also failing. Need to join few tables which cloud doesn't tell us what should be the mapping and join conditions as we dont have the backend access and also dont have any debugging.

This is another pain here.

Secondly, I tried All Interaction, but in that if the opt out happens before a new opt in, then the target group will have the same contact still. and i dont think we can overcome this, basically to get all the contacts in the target group who has a recent interaction with opt out of a specific subscription.

Also i need all those contacts as part of target group which i think all interaction wont create?

If you can resolve the hana modelling stuff, let me know i can utilize the same, but to be honest i am stuck now.

Callout to SAP 🙂

Hi Mayank,

I actually also have problems activating standard calculation views which I exported from SMC and I'm still not able to resolve the errors.

So if you find a solution for that please let me know.

I see the problem you have using the Opt-Out of All Interactions Segmentation Model...

Well usually I would think we can use table CUAND_CE_MP_ROOT where the permissions are stored. But as long as I can't get the activation of views to work I'm also stuck in here.

mitmayank_bluleader no I didn't because I'm not sure if the error is in Marketing Cloud (during the export) or in SCP. I'm using the trial version which always worked for me in earlier time. Can I open a ticket for SCP trial? Not sure about that.

schneidert : I think we can open an incident, the reason is - SAP has only given SCP trial option to do HANA modelling, There is no other way we can do the modelling and resolve these error.

Actually my client is very much custom demanding, and currently SMC is very limited to customization as compared to other products in market.

Its worth giving a try. We have an influence idea as well, but i think it is not being considered.

This is a big limitation in the product and it is really hard to sell because of limiting the custom development.

Hi Mayank,

how did you export this view from SAP Marketing Cloud?

I'm not able to export it separately. It is a related view of CA_C_IC_CONTACT for example. So I can only export it together with that one.

So I think maybe it is only possible to import it again together with the calculation view which you exported.

Did you think about using the Segmentation Profile All Interactions? Here you can segment for Interaction Type Newsletter Unsubscribe (NEWSLETTER_UNSUBSCR) toghether with the Communication Category.

Maybe this would be a workaround for you.

But good to know about the filter. I have the same requirement (I also need the Opt-Outs) and actually using this workaround.
