Hi Experts,
we are thinking about implementing the newly released multiple contact-to-Account relationships.
We are now wondering how the opt-ins are stored in this sceanrio.
I understand that the mail adress is part of the relationship. If a contact is opting out in an email: is this opt-out valid for all mail adresses in all relationships this contacts has?
I tried to make an example:

One person has relationships to 3 different accounts. In 2 relations the same mail adress is used. He opt-outs in an mail send to m.mustermann@mail.com. Is the opt-out also valid for the second relationship? Is the opt-out also valid for the other mail adress?
Thank you
Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I confirm the second option described by Tobias. The opt-out process is the same as for the scenario without Account Relationships. The opt-out is set for the Contact, considering the email address and the Marketing Area. The opt-out is not done for other email addresses.
See the documentation for the Contact-to-Account Relationships: https://help.sap.com/viewer/ac1eab4c66bc490da7ac2c378c46b0e7/2011.500/en-US/052cb474170c46f184e0fe44...
Part of the above-mentioned documentation, there is an example:
In the example there is an Opt-out for email address l.smith@c3.com and Marketing Area B. If we extend that example with an additional relationship to another related account, same email address l.smith@c3.com and Marketing Area B, the email address l.smith@c3.com will not receive any email because the combination of email address and Marketing Area doesn’t have the marketing permission to be contacted.

Brigitte

Hi Cindy,
very interesting topic and a good question!
I've not implemented that scenario yet but as I understand, since the Opt-Ins are relationship-dependent and there is a best record for every relationship, I would assume that only the permission for that specific relationship (in your case Company A) is taken into account.
On the other hand it would make sense that the Opt-Out is also valid for the other relationship (Company B, at least if it is also the same Marketing Area). So maybe it consideres the email together with the Marketing Area of the Interaction Contact irrespective of the relationship...
Hope someone from SAP or anyone who has already implemented that scenario can clarify.
BR Tobias

Hi Cindy,
That is right. In the scenario described above the contact Max Mustermann would still receive Mails on his other mail address (max@mails.com) from relationship to company C.

Brigitte

Hi brigitte.signori,
thanks for the confirmation.
This means that in the scenario described above the contact Max Mustermann would still receive Mails on his other mail adress (max@mails.com) from relationship to company C, right?
Best Regards,
Cindy
