Hello Experts,
I can see that under Marketing Permission, we have Communication Medium/General Permission/Contact Information/Origin.
I want to understand what origin field plays a role while executing the campaign and doing the permission check?
In my scenario, i have uploaded the data of contact with origin SAP_C4C_CONTACT and SAP_ERP say for example.
Do these origins needs to be added for permission checks? What if i can have the permission setup as
Communication Medium = Email
General Permission - Opt In
Contact Information - Mayank
Origin - Email
Does the campaign will be ignoring the contact data if the origin is not as SAP_C4C_CONTACT or SAP_ERP during permission check?
Kindly assist in understanding the process.
Thanks,

Hi Mayank,
Please read the below to learn more about the golden record concept of SAP Marketing:
EMAIL is created as an additional facet and added to the facet group that it was extracted from. This is done automatically and is part of the matching & merging concept of SAP Marketing. The Contact Profile App will not show this grouped facet as additional facet.
You can however see it in segmentation when segmenting on ID_ORIGIN = EMAIL.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mayank,
Yes, during campaign execution only the marketing permission per channel (communication medium) will be checked.
ID_ORIGIN EMAIL will always be created automatically if you provide an email address in any facet data.

Hi Mayank,
Please read through the following documentation:
Marketing Permissions and Subscription Data
Do you have the email address that you want to update the permission for stored in C4C or ERP in your example?
Example:
If your permissions are coming C4C you would then specify it here:
ID_ORIGIN = SAP_C4C_CONTACT (Identifies the data source)
ID = BP_ID
Communication Medium = EMAIL (Outbound communication medium for which the marketing permission applies (for example EMAIL or SMS))
Optin = Yes/No
etc.
During campaign execution SAP Marketing Cloud will check if the customer has given permission for the specific outbound communication medium (e.g. EMAIL). If there's no permission, the contact will not receive the email and an interaction will be written for this contact that it was excluded from the specific campaign.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi theodor.lungstras : Thanks fro your response. If i understood correctly, I need to do the configuration in the marketing system to identify the communication medium per origin.
Then i need to upload permissions with the origins and communication medium.
but however while sending an email from campaign, the system will check only communication medium and permissions. The origin check will be ignored ?
Additionaly can you please confirm in what business cases the origin ID EMAIL is used for?
Thanks,
