Marketing Cloud integration feasibility with SAP BW

Hi Experts

I have a question regarding a workflow and integrations:

As you know MKT we can connect it in a standard way with other SAP systems.

This time a client has S4HANA, Commerce and BW.

You want to activate MKT as well but ask that the system that manages your source and supply of master and transactional data (Interactions) is BW.

That is to say: Commerce and S4 HANA integrated with SAP BW and BW integrated with MKT.

My concern: Is it viable is this type of integration and architecture?

I am concerned about the issue of commerce interactions, if it is okay for them to travel to BW and then to MKT, How would trigger campaigns work if I don't have Commerce connected to MKT?

Hi Elio,

as per my knowledge this integration from BW to MC is not supported and there are no standard integration packages or something like that.

The only thing I'm aware of is CDS-based data extraction from MC to BW.

I think this would be a heavy custom implementation. But I think you're aware of the different OData APIs that MC offers. If you are able to extract the data from BW according to your needs, you could check if there's an option to build such an integration.

What do you mean with "how would trigger campaigns work"? If you are able to import data to Marketing Cloud and create interactions then you could also use trigger based campaigns for further marketing activities.

My question is commerce should send interactions to MC as a saved or abandoned shopping cart, and I don't know if having BW as an intermediary that is fluid or viable, for MC it can trigger campaigns of this type.

Hi eliocentenob,

I've never integrated a BW system that way and I'm not sure if that is even possible. To do such triggerbased campaigns of type abandoned cart it would be necessary to send interactions to MC of type SHOP_CART_ABANDONED including the products in the cart and so on. I don't know if you have these information anywhere else than in Commerce. If not I think it is necessary that they are sent from Commerce to MC.

Which data do you plan to send from BW to MC? Or which data is even stored there?
