Marketing Cloud - Corporate Account Merge

Former Member

Dear,

Currently we are facing a business scenario where we will have to merge Corporate accounts, however I have not found information about this topic.

  • We have a database available with corporate accounts information, these will be loaded in our Marketing Cloud system.
  • We will also have a website with a contact form and sample request, these interactions will require the corporate account information to be loaded.

Will it be possible to have an automatic or manual merge in the following case:

  • The corporate account named "Marketing group" with an address, email, phone and VAT number can be found in the database which we have available and is uploaded in Marketing Cloud.
  • The corporate account "Marketing group" registers on our website with the same address, email, phone and VAT number. This information is also uploaded in our Marketing system.

Is there any merge scenario for the Corporate accounts?

Thanks and kind regards,

Quinten Savenberg

Hello Quinten,

this should perfectly work if you use the VAT number (as Id/IdOrigin) to match the accounts that register on websites with those in the database.

Hey nicolae.ciumac,

If I understand correctly, you suggest we create a new Origin named VAT number, the ID of this origin wil be the VAT number.

We will do an upload of the database with the origin VAT number and the ID the corresponding VAT numbers.

When a customer fills in the information on the website, the customer data will be send to Marketing Cloud with the VAT origin + VAT number. But this will overwrite all existing data with the new data.

This does not seem like the correct approach, since we will be losing data which we received from the database.

Thanks and kind regards,

Quinten

Hi Quinten Savenberg,

The creation of the Contact Origin would depend if this is a "new" data source or set of data you import to Marketing.
Assuming the Website and Database are two different data source you can create two ID Origins, one of the database and one for the website. If you have the VAT number a with the Website content data you can add that information as additional facet to the Website data import for merging the Corporate account record from Database and Website.

In the end this is all a question of how you set up the ID Origin configuration.

There is a good YouTube playlist on this topic.

kunalkumar.bansal , nicolae.ciumac , johannes.hirling : I'm encountering this issue again. I also saw an Idea was created: https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea/223425/?section=sectionComments

But I have imported multiple Corporate Accounts with the same email address (SMTP_ADDR) but they are not merging... and I don't understand why not, I read here and on the Idea that accounts are supposed to follow the same merging logic as Contacts...

Hy Joyca,

We are also facing the same issue. Did you find any solution for this?

Hi jcherian99 ,

In my case, it was because these accounts had another Origin which was configured as "one per contact = true" which blocked the merge.

I noticed that the Customer Influence request https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#/idea/223425/?section=sectionComments has been marked as "Solution Already Exists". However, we continue to have issues with Corporate Accounts (Contacts appears to be working as expected). It may be that in the Contacts app, there is an option to Compare but there is not with Corporate Accounts.

Perhaps one of you can explain why it was marked as "Solution Already Exists". I noticed others continue to have the same issue also.

Hmm, strange, I'd expect that Corporate Accounts follow the same merge logic as Interaction Contacts...

kunalkumar.bansal do you perhaps know why the corporate accounts don't merge?
