Marketing Cloud Campaign - Implicit opt-in emails not taken into account

Hi,

Our business is trying to send out email campaigns and it seems that the implicit email opt-ins are not taken into account.

If we look at the permission settings it seems to be set correctly

I am not a MC consultant so I don't have deep knowledge in this area.

What could be a reason that with the above settings implicit email opt-ins are not considered for a marketing campaign?

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tobias,

Yes.

Here an example of a contact with Email address which is not is the Best Record:

In this case, the contact has 2 origins (C4C & Hubspot)

Its permissions (implicit):

And here, the failed interaction (see "Outbound failed: Email address Missing):

Thank you!

Hi aldlu,

are you able to see the permission on the Contact UI?

Do you maybe have an example where we can see the permissions and also the Origins of the Contact with the email-address that is not taken into account for the best record as you said? Maybe that makes it easier to analyze.

Hello again,

After looking into details, it looks like the contacts are actually taken into account in the target group and in the campaign but the emails are not delivered to most of them.

The execution log says that Email addresses are missing, even though the contacts do have an email address. It is however not taken in the Best Record.

I'm wondering if the issue is not coming from something else than the permission. Do you have any idea/tips on this?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Tom,

what do you mean with "are not taken into account"?

Does the campaign fail during sending out the email and an interaction is written as mentioned by Saravanakumar?

Or aren't you even able to see the permissions on Contact level?

If the second case applies, I assume it is because the contact maybe has a country and you configured your permission settings for contacts without countries ("Country/Region" is empty).

If the first case applies, I would assume it maybe has something to do with the Marketing Areas. Did you activate the feature "Activate Marketing Areas for Campaign Execution"?

These would be the first things for me to check.

Hi Tobias,

I'm coming back to you concerning this issue. I'm working with Tom on this and the problem is still there.

The contacts usually have a country indeed but we configured the permission for each country. (see here under).
We didn't activate the feature "Activate Marketing Area for Campaign execution". Is that something we need to do in order to have the implicit permissions working?

Thank you in advance for your answer and for your help on this.

Kind regards,

Alicia

Hi Tom,

Campaigns should consider Implicit Permissions as well unless its opted out , can you share a contact with such permission as Opt-in but Email Interactions with Permission failed ?

Saravana.
