We have a new client. They use loyalty as payment. We first had them on fp16, the loyalty is not showing as a payment option, we upgraded to fp17 to see if that would fix it but still does not show. I tried the same on my test lab, also upgraded to fp 17 and it doesnt show there either. The only options are cash, card, gift card and on credit. We have tried different ways of setting up the quick selections, to no avail.

You need to have a customer with a loyalty account selected in the sales receipt. Only then the tab "Loyalty Points" becomes available in the payment methods.
