Lead number buffering Issue in C4C-Sales

Hi Guys,

We have noticed that Lead ID number range jumps by huge numbers. I created & system created lead ID 1341. I went to the lead creation button again but I exited the screen without creating any lead.

I did the same action two more times and did not create any lead. In the fourth attempt I created a lead and system created a lead with Lead ID 1345. It means system skipped lead number range by 3 and jumped to 1345 just because I opened Lead screen three times but I did not create any lead.

Is there a way this issue can be fixed ?

system reserve them in buffer in backend when you open any lead a number will be reserved even if you do not create lead the system reserved number will be lost it is normal behavior it is not only with leads it is same for all other documents that have system autogenerated number you can test the same with sales quote etc...

Business finds it very awkward, furthermore in S/4HANA BP creation does not exhibit the behavior as described in my post. I think function module to get next number should be called only when all validations have be done and we save the lead.
