How to use sapymktrecommendation and sapymktrecommendationaddon to implement recently viewed products

We are using 1811, we are trying to implement recently viewed items functionality in both home and pdp pages. I have included sapymktrecommendation and sapymktrecommendationaddon extensions in localextensions.xml

Now my question is how is this market recommendation extension going to save the data related to customer and his/her recently viewed products.

wiki has very limited information on the same. Any lead would be appreciated.

There is no saving.
Viewed products and categories are stored in the web session.
