how to debug custom HANA view for marketing cloud

Hello SAP Experts,

We have created a custom HANA view( merely a copy of standard view and added few fields for aggregation purpose). The view is not retrieving the correct answers. Now i want to debug and see at which stage the values is getting wrong. Since we dnt have access to SAP DB, we cannot set the system for debugging. Is there any blog which explains how to debug the view created for SAP Marketing Cloud?

or do i need to raise SAP ticket for assistance?

Hello mitmayank_bluleader,

You can review the view.xml file in Hana studio, but there is no tool to debug it in SMC.

If you think your designed view is not working as standard and is an error in SAP system, you can always report an incident.

best regards,

Kunal

kunalkumar.bansal : We have copied the standard view and make the modification. The view is retrieving the incorrect values. Actually it is duplicating the values and summing up. I want to identify at which level it is summing up the values so that we can remove the field. This i cannot test or debug due to restrictions in place, . Can SAP assists?

HI Mayank,

very good question and indeed I'm waiting here for a proper solution from SAP since a long time 🙂

What we are doing is using the SAP HANA web Ide - see

https://www.sap.com/cxworks/article/453913143/How_to_Model_Custom_SAP_HANA_Views_for_SAP_Marketing_C...

And here we use SQL statements (Catalog view) to fill values into the tables which we want to use for HANA modelling.

After this also in the Catalog view you can do a preview for your successfully created and activated view which will consider the values you entered via SQL.

Hope this helps and best regards

Maik

maik.offerle : Even i am also waiting for this functionality. My Pain is - we have used the standard calculation view which has heaps of tables and view attached. If i try to update the values and tables data, i am sure i will mess the entire data and it seems to be impossible to get the data.

I am not sure where the issue is without having connected to view and debug at each level. I dunno how to get it resolved. Until SAP provides an insight.
