How can I allocate a territory/employee responsible to a Lead when uploading from Excel in C4C?

We currently upload leads in bulk (gathered at a field day / show) using the Excel add-on.

I have C4C set up so that Leads are allocated a territory through rules, but this only seems to work if I add them one at a time directly in to C4C.

Does anyone know if I can get this to work on bulk uploads.

Edna

Hi Edna,

In Administrator - Sales and Campaign Settings, you can define a Sales Realignment Run. In batch accounts and related documents will be updated in line with your territory rules. It is also possible to exclude document types for realignment.

Thank you for this information. Unfortunately running the realignment run did not change the uploaded leads. Some leads were updated but not those they still have no territory allocated to them.

Do you mean that after the realigment run, some leads were updated and some leads were not updated?

Hi MJ

None of the leads that were uploaded from a spreadsheet were updated with a territory.

Hi Edna,

You have to check scoping to see if a particular question related to territory management is answered. It concerns the update of documents with regards to the territories in case the territory on account level is updated. So after accounts are updated with regards to the territory, open transactions related to this account will also be updated. The one drawback here is that this works for Open documents. Besides are there multiple territories for one Account?

Administrators can configure realignment to update territories in open transaction documents associated with the account. To maintain the configuration, go to Business Configuration Implementation Projects Your Project - Edit Project Scope Questions: Sales Account and Activity Management - Territory Management, and select the scoping question - Do you want the territory changes you make to an account, to be automatically updated in the open documents associated with the account.

Besides I always set up a Derive Territory workflow rule (Action) on every account save. Leads with a status Open, should then be updated automatically in line with the Account they are related to.

After the accounts have been updated correctly, in the territory field dropdown you will see the related territories = the valid territory based on your rules. Users can assign the correct territory manually. In case you might have to update a large number of leads that where not automatically updated with the proper territory e.g. due to the fact that they did not have a status Open - you can use the Lead template in the data workbench.
