Hi Experts,
This question is related to Business Partner's addresses in IS-Utilities module.
There is a situation in my current project related to updating of business partner's address. Based on the existing process flow, update to any address done from a Customer Portal will result in creating a new address. This can cause following issues:
1. Multiple address numbers created and linked with BP for the same physical address
2. Incorrect addresses linked with a BP. (Address is valid but does not belong to that BP)
I am currently analyzing this and wanted to list down all the possible impacts of this issue.
I understand that this approach will lead to data redundancy and increase in address volume. Is there anything else that you would like to highlight that may cause some other major issues? Any system or performance issues that you could foresee with this?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Rohit

Refer to the BPARTNER MDT
Specifically the BP_ADDRESS node.
Its if the address is identical to an existing address, it is smart enough to prevent duplication of entries. Also its possible to maintain an existing address.

You may want to see the impact on other modules like HR or SRM for instance if the BPs get replicated and when you change the address linked and update address it still flows through ok.
BP can have multiple address like ship to party , sold to party etc
I am however not sure why cannot the address be updated than creating new ones?
Also BP has linkages to contact person, other business documents like PO,. SO how would those be impacted or updated might needed to be tested
