Global Marketing Area in SAP Marketing

Hello Team,

The system is SAP Marketing 2020 on prem. I've activated Global marketing area and have few queries regarding this -

We've set up marketing areas Germany, France etc. which have access to only Germany, France data respectively. All roles like of segmentation, campaign etc. are designed for respective marketing area only. We have another superuser access who can access every data under all marketing areas.

1. Using superuser access I've set up a Global template with Global marketing area -

Now this template is accessible to users having super user access but not to users having specific marketing areas like Germany.

I read the document and it mentions this -

"A global template is a SAP-delivered or user-defined template that is independent of marketing area. This template is available to all across the organization. When you save a campaign as a global template, all the marketing area dependent information available in the campaign is cleared from it."

As I understand, Global marketing area makes marketing area independent, so not sure why template is not visible to user having Germany marketing area. Do I need to add Global marketing area to the roles of the Germany user? If so, then doesn't purpose of global marketing area is being defeated?

2. In addition to campaign global template, this situation is observed in other contents like email, forms etc. If a content is created by a user having super access with Global marketing area, this content is not visible to users having restricted marketing area access like Germany.

Regards,
Pushpak

Hi Pushpak,

the Global Marketing Area is the one that is delivered out of the box. You could then of course add other areas like in your case for the different countries (Germany, France, ...).

If you restrict your users to only those Marketing Areas they can only see the data with those areas assigned.

If you create Content (or whatever) that has another Area assigned (for example GLOBAL), the users that don't have access to the Global Area would never be able to see that (irrespectively of the type of data (templates, campaigns, content, contacts...)).

So, yes, if the users should be able to see the Object/Data with Global Area assigned, you have to add that Marketing Area to the restrictions of their role.
