FP11: Difference between quickservice ui and retail service ui

Hi,

I just discovered in FP11 that there is a new UI "retail service ui" available, but it doesn't seem to be different to the quick service ui.

The Entry in the SAP help documentation doesn't really help:
https://help.sap.com/viewer/71570024ae3843f08a10d68054192d3d/2.0.11/en-US/ff07637868874afe9956003ec0...
The following UI modes are possible:

  • Quick Service

In quick service mode, SAP Customer Checkout provides a Sales screen, which is quick and easy to use and is adapted to the requirements of catering, especially for kiosks and fast food.

  • Table Management

In table management mode, SAP Customer Checkout provides a sales and table management screen that is tailored to the catering area, particularly restaurants, bars, and cafés.

  • Retail Service

In retail mode, SAP Customer Checkout provides a sales screen that is adapted to the requirements in retail and merchandising.

Hello arti3000 joerg.ceo balakumar.viswanathan2

Thank You for evaluating SAP Customer Checkout 2.0 FP11 already. You are absolutely right. As of now there is little or no difference between the 2 modes "Retail Service" and "Quick Service".
First of all its a clear hint to our customer and partners that we expect them to start using the new Retail Service instead of the old Retail UI. Doing Migration for existing customers and also installing only new Retail Service for new customers.
Second, that there is no real difference between them is just the beginning. Our plan is (no commitment only plan) is to start providing a different User Interface Layout for these 2 modes. Though as of now there is no concreate decision what these changes are but i can give u some hint on some of our discussions for new Retail Service UI.
1. Displaying the Article ID, Unit Amount, Gross Amount in the sales Grid for Retail Service Mode.
2. Reducing the area for quick selection and Removing the "Quick Functions" area for Retail Service mode.
3. In the reduced Quick Service area providing a sub-list of functions which are widely used in retail or which was possible from OLD Retail UI without additional configuration. Like Park, Resume, Tax Rate Change, Sales Person Selection, WareHouse Selection, Click-Collect Scenario like Paying Invoice, Fetching Sales Order etc.

Probably you noticed the new functions for "Open Links" ,"Special Sales Item", Improvements in Discount functions for header and item discount... These are all steps in the direction to make the Retail Mode powerful and provide a good user experience.

Real visible difference between Quick Service and Retail Service was not achieved in FP11. Maybe this happens in further releases.

Hope it helps.

Hi Bikash,

thank you for the explanation! The ideas you mentioned are all very good ideas and fit several requirements customers mention on a regular basis, especially number 1 & 2!

Hi,

In help file, there is a small (I can even say tiny) section about Retail Service UI which currently states that Retail Service UI is same as Quick Service UI.

So I guess, SAP "have" some plans to enhance this UI but not in this release.

Regards,
