Emarsys SMS - how to buy?

Hi,

We want to buy this Emarsys SMS. As per below article, we can buy it from our Emarsys Success Manager. But we brought our Emarsys Account on SAP paper and we have never been contacted by anyone called themselves as Emarsys Success Manager. When we ask the SAP sales rep, they said no such BOM on their price list. So how do we buy?

Hi Sindy,

At Emarsys, we operate two models for providing the SMS channel to our customers. You will find brief descriptions of the models below:

Old model - Emarsys acts as a middle party and contracts the SMS vendor/aggregator directly. Emarsys then sells SMS credits to the customers to use on the channel. This model is not available for SAP paper customers nor for new Emarsys paper customers, as it is being depreciated for the new model described below.

New model (a.k.a. Bring Your Own Vendor) - Customers source and sign a contract directly with the SMS vendor/aggregator. The customer then connects the SMS vendor account with Emarsys by following the steps here. Please note that before signing up for an SMS vendor, it is worth checking that the SMS vendor has already integrated with Emarsys. With this model, there is no concept of credits, as the SMS vendor will bill the customer directly based on their usage.

We will look to improve the documentation to make it clearer which document is applicable for the old vs new model customers.

Best Regards,

Peter Baird

Hi keysapsw,

There are 2 components here:

  1. You must make sure that your Emarsys package/license includes de SKU related to SMS. This can be done directly with SAP.
  2. You need to get a contract with your preferred SMS vendor.

From my implementation experience, the company usually contact directly the SMS vendor. It is important that this vendor is part of Emarsys list of allowed providers (e.g. Infobip, Sinch...).

In terms of implementing the channel, it is really simple and the guide (that could has some variations depending on the SMS provider) can be found here.

Please let me know if you have any further question.

Best,

Juan Cabrera

As mentioned in our original question, we have already reached out to the SAP Sales Rep. Alternatively, we have indeed asked the Emarsys's team and they are also wondering. Really feel like being a second citizenship as an Emarsys customer on SAP paper!! no SFTP, no Emarsys hosted RDS option, extra expensive custom dev, no certainty for add-ons, missing the exact same professional care from Emarsys's team, etc.

It is best to reach out to your SAP sales rep and ask them directly about the process for purchasing Emarsys SMS. Most likely, they will be able to point you in the right direction or provide further guidance on what steps will be required to purchase the product. Alternatively, you can also reach out directly to Emarsys to inquire about the purchase process.
