Custom fields creation in Target group in SAP Marketing Cloud

Dear Experts,

I was trying to create some custom fields through Extensibility --> Custom fields and logic in SAP Marketing Cloud for Target Group object for a certain business requirement. However, I could not find the same in the dropdown list of "Business Context". Kindly suggest on how to add the custom fields for Target Group.

Hi Vishwas,

I understand what you're trying to achieve. But as already said, unfortunately for now it is impossible to create custom fields for Target Groups.

So the only two standard fields you can use to indicate that the TG was created from Sales Cloud are the Name and Description field. In addition to that you can see it in the "Created By" field that it was the technical user that created the group. So maybe you can map all the needed fields from Sales Cloud to the Description field (maxlength 1000), separated by comma or something like that, to have all the information in SAP Marketing Cloud at all.

All the other fields are not creatable and therefore not useful for you.

I think at the moment this is the only way to go... sorry.

Hi vishwas-itelligence. As Tobias said, you cannot add custom fields to Target Groups. To accomplish that kind of functionality, one recommendation could be the usage of custom fields or custom business objects, and then load the data there. If the customer has just one value for an attribute, I recommend custom fields. If the customer could have multiple values, I recommend custom business objects.

Thanks for your reply. Below is the use case:

1) We are replicating the target groups from the Sales Cloud to Marketing Cloud.

2) There are certain fields that are there in Sales Cloud but missing in the Marketing Cloud. For eg., I observed that the Sales Cloud Target group ID is nowhere stored in the Marketing Cloud Target group to indicate the reference that this one was replicated from Sales Cloud.

3) Likewise, there are some other fields that we want to create and maintain the mapping so that the fields are in sync in both the systems.

I have attached an image with list of fields for your reference.

Kindly validate my understanding. Ultimate requirement is to have all the fields in SAP Sales Cloud Target group be present in SAP Marketing Cloud Target group as well.

Also, advise on the best practice to achieve this.

Hi Vishwas,

there's no business context for target groups.

Target Group app is not enabled for adaptation. So you can't add custom fields in this app.

What's your use case you need this custom field for? Maybe we can find a workaround?
