I have been a great fan of Crystal Reports since version 9. I still have that old copy and it worked seamlessly with VB 6.0. Today, I am seriously frustrated trying to get the developer edition working in Visual Studio 2022. I have wanted to 'cry' when every solution posted elsewhere fails to work. These are my steps:
Downloaded and installed as administrator Crystal Reports for Visual Studio SP36. I called in the project reference assemblies:
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Shared
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.ReportSource
CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Windows.Forms
After ensuring their setup, i was surprised to find Crystal Reports Viewer missing from the toolbox. Knowing how to add, I right-click on the toolbox add items and found the control under .net framework and confirmed ok. However, i get a message that the control is installed but disabled I guess owing to framework incompatibility or whatever.
From the SAP website, SP36 should work with Visual 2022. I am running a project on .Net 8.0 framework. Any advise from the creators? I need this working ASAP.
