In my project we have a requirement like, needs to access multiple content catalogs in smart edit for a single site. Let me explain how our structure is there currently.
We have one site; 2 stores and these stores are linked to site [to be clear we have only one site]. Initially we have only one Content & Product catalogs only, but recently segregated
We have global site only supporting only English language and our catalog structures are like below:
Content Catalogs:
Global Content Catalog
Documents Content Catalog
Parts Content Catalog
Product Catalog:
Documents Product Catalog
Parts Product Catalog
Site:
Global Site
Stores:
Documents Store
Parts Store
All the above Content Catalogs are linked to Global site like below:

And we enabled the Smart edit and here the problem arises When we entered into it we are able to see all the content catalogs which are linked above and the highlighted Content Catalog only able to access it, whereas others are not functioning.

When I click on Apparel DE Content Catalog on “HomePage | Pages | Navigation Management” either Online or Staged, it’s not functioning.
Where as when I click on Apparel UK Content Catalog on “HomePage | Pages | Navigation Management” either Online or Staged, it’s functioning because UK Content catalog is the leaf node in back office website. Please refer the above back office screenshot.
Can any one please let me know how to make functioning rest of the content catalogs which we added to one site.
Hence, in smart edit, I need to access all the content catalogs which are linked to only one site.
Please do let me know how to achieve this.
Note: All the components, slots, templates everything currently are implemented using WCMS.
Request clarification before answering.
In case that someone has the same problem. In my case the problem was the order in which the content catalogs were assigned to the cmsSite. If the local content catalog (Content Catalog-PL) were first then I had the same issue as reported above.
If the global content catalog (parent) were first then editing in SmartEdit was possible.
