Hi,
Anybody can tell me in very layman language what is the difference between collective and imediate processing of Tasks?
Thanks,
Rashmi

Hi!
Immediate processing means that the task is executed right after the sales transaction has entered the PIPE.
Collective transaction processing, in turn, is initiated in certain periods of time by background jobs.

Hi Rashmi,
Just to put things into perspective- In case of master data checks, duplicate checks and sending data to BW - it would make sense to set these as "Immediate processing" because they are critical while processing the sales transactions prior to sending it to downstream systems.
In case of Totals check(End of day), it would make sense to set it up as collective processing. And the idocs to ECC if you are planning to process them as batch jobs later during the night then it would be ideal to set it up as collective processing(periodical may be hourly).
Also note sometimes business requirements may direct you to set ECC idocs to be sent immediately, if its critical to have the sales/stocks updated immediately.
Hope it helps.
Thanks,
Aram.
