If you have implemented SAP Notes through SNOTE prior to an upgrade, there are sections during SPDD (Modified DDIC Objects) and SPAU (Modified Repository Objects) that deal with impemented SAP notes, as well as any other modifications of SAP standard dictionary and repository, for different scenarios in case a manual adjustment is necessary. Here are some helpful information regarding "How i can check if a SAP Note will be taken care during upgrade of the system?":
Transaction SPDD
- Processing in transaction SPDD is based on the Release that has just been imported, where the Release upgrade is stopped by the R3up upgrade control program or Support Package Manager.
- Data elements that have been changed with the Modification Assistant are displayed with a green or yellow traffic light.
Green traffic light: There were no overlaps between the delivered SAP objects and the customer modifications. If you click on the green traffic light, the customer’s modifications are adopted. A green tick in front of the object confirms this.
If you do not wish to adopt the customer’s modifications, choose the function Reset to Original.
Yellow traffic light: There were overlaps between the version delivered by SAP and the modified version of the customer. If the object was modified using the Modification Assistant, dialog boxes with appropriate queries will appear to support the semi-automatic adjustment.
If an object was not modified using the Modification Assistant, reports for supporting the adjustment are called. These are reports that were already used when there was no way of executing the modification adjustment with the help of the Modification Assistant. - Objects that have been changed without the Modification Assistant are displayed with a yellow or red traffic light.
Red traffic light: If you have a red traffic light in front of an object, you can edit the object manually only in the appropriate maintenance transaction of the ABAP Dictionary or using the Version Management function.
Transaction SPAU
- Repository objects are adjusted using transaction SPAU. Only those objects that have been modified by you and are being redelivered by SAP in an upgrade/with the Support Package Queue are presented for adjustment. If the SAP objects that you have modified are not redelivered by SAP, these objects do not appear in the display.
- During the import, the system automatically recognizes whether a modification adjustment is required. You are then prompted to perform the modification adjustment.
- You must decide whether the objects contained in the adjustment list should retain your modifications or if they should be reset to original. This is mandatory and must be carried out for each object visible in the adjustment transaction. Otherwise, the new original stays active in your System. The objects continue to be displayed in SPAU as not adjusted.
- Green traffic light: Automatic adjustment
This icon only appears in the With Modification Assistant category in most cases.
The modification of the customer can be adopted automatically for these objects. Clicking on the icon causes the system to automatically adjust the object. - Yellow traffic light: Semi-automatic adjustment
If only a semi-automatic adjustment is possible for modifications made with the Modification Assistant, a yellow traffic light symbol appears before the object. Semi-automatic means that the individual tools offer adjustment support. When adjusting programs, the split-screen editor is called, whereas in the other tools any entries made in the collision dialog box lead to the necessary adjustments being made automatically.
- Red traffic light: Manual adjustment
Objects in the Without Modification Assistant subtree can only be post-processed manually after the adjustment process. Manual adjustment means that you must make modifications without any special support from the system.
Using Version Management, you can retrieve old versions or use your recordings to process the newly imported objects.
In exceptional cases, the red traffic light may also appear in the With Modification Assistant category if the tools of the Modification Assistant are unable to fully support the adjustment process. In these cases, you should always check the adjustment log. - Dark traffic light: Obsolete Corrections
If a dark traffic light is displayed for note corrections, the associated correction instructions are obsolete. The correction is contained in the upgrade or in the Support Package imported. When you click the traffic light symbol or choose the Reset to original function, a dialog box appears. Confirm that you want to reset the note correction to original. If you have selected more than one note correction, you can choose Reset all. The dialog box is not displayed then.
