Was wondering if anyone has a feature comparison of CDT 7.0.16 vs. Comm Panel 7.0.16? Also with Comm Panel do agents and supervisors still use Online Monitoring? i have not experience with Comm Panel other than knowing it is the path forward. Also will CDT support Edge Chromium in future release?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi David,
Alder & Dawood already gave very good insight to the topic. Thanks guys! Like they said CDT and OM are likely to run out of life at some point in the future. SAP states that CDT is supported as long as Internet Explorer is and Microsoft hasn't said anything concrete about that yet.The fact is anyhow, that SAP needs to move forward from IE technology stack and we have chosen WebRTC based technology. In other words we are not removing CDT or OM from onpremise shipment, instead we are adding new features (Communication Panel & Supervising Dashboard) to the package and listening our customers via Customer Connection program. Tip: stay tuned - next round planned to start later on this year. Please follow CCtr2020 program for more information.
With the model where onpremise shipment has CDT, OM, Communication Panel & Supervisor Dashboard you can basically utilize all user interfaces same time. This allows you to try out new things well before doing the big jump - in case you decide to do so.
If you don't mind I would like to connect you with our guy in US and he can take you trough basis of Communication Panel and Supervisor Dashboard. I will ask the colleague to contact you.
If we compare CDT and CP now (FP16), the case is that functionality is quite close. Main features we are missing are MTD and Supervising capabilities, but like guys said CP has many features that CDT doesn't. In case you or anyone wish to see comparison sheet, please let me know or ask it via ticket.
Support for new Edge is of course planned for the Communication Panel and Supervisor Dashboard. For FP16 it came little too late and we didn't had time to check things. The Edge is anyhow almost a copy of Chrome and we don't expect major hickups. If we or a partner finds it working well, then we can always add the support later on as well.
With CDT we are not planning to support new Edge, even it has the IE mode. Based on our experience it doesn't bring in anything that would benefit customers. It's simply launching IE on background and is still using all IE settings plus creating the same security concerns as IE does. Basically it's a lose - lose situation for everybody.

Hi David,
I believe such a document SAP has as internal and it will never be published :-). I think when you check last Customer Influence requests, you will get fair good overview of what is missing compared to CDT...
On the other hand, CDT will probably die, as it is based on ActiveX, and you should aim to CommPanel whenever possible. SAP is heavily developing CP and there are new features with every release.
Some features, like multichat or dashboard, are not even possible in CDT.
Generally, I would say - if you want to be on a safe side, use both in present time. For telephony use CDT (if you have no WebRTC, you need MTD, all supervisor functions and so on), for "e-channel" use CP.

Dawood
