How can the lead status be changed automatically after a specific task completed

It seems that by standards this is not possible yet. I found two Customer Influence Site links (here and here) that are requesting more control on Leads, specially the lead status (that is currently not available) in workflow rules.
Our advice is to describe your need there and vote both threads up so that our Product Managers can see it as fit for more customer peers.
Other than that, you should seek a custom implementation partner, such as our Cloud Service Center.
