Hi,
Since the 2011 release there is a verification option in the email channel definition.
Can anybody provide some more context on this change and how the technical email addresses like cod.servicerequest@mail.myXXXXXX.crm.ondemand.com are used for now onwards if the verification is not sent to this address? For certain scenarios i do not want to set up a company mail box, but use this technical address - is this still possible?

When a new E-mail address / channel is created, verification is required. E-mail channel can be activated only if the E-mail address is verified with the verification code sent to this address. At the moment, it is not possible to mark the E-mail channel as active without verifying the same with the verification code.
Note: verification code is not sent to SAP technical E-mail addresses (for example, cod.servicerequest@mail.myXXXXXX.crm.ondemand.com), please use your company mail box as a channel.

Hi mjveerhuis,
Ideally, technical email addresses should not be used as email channels directly as these email addresses are meant to be used for backend communication between your company mailbox and the SAP server. Before the 2011 release, there was no strict check on this and however, now the C4C Product team has made this email address verification a mandatory step, and not possible to create a new email channel using these technical email addresses. However, existing email addresses will work until you make any manual changes in the channel which need reverification.

Hi Marie-Jose,
how did you solve that topic? I have the same issue on our SAP Demosystem and need to setup an inbound mailing process.

Hi Sandeep,
Thank you for reply.
I have made several alterations - like setting up a separate mail box and redefining my mail channels and executing the verification. A rule has been set up to route incoming mail from my new mail box to SAP. The email channels for B2B and B2C now include demoservices@mycompany.com and are activated successfully.
My outbound flow works fine. But my inbound flow is still not working. What actually surprises me the most, is that when I sent a mail to the following technical SAP mail addresses
cod.B2B.servicerequest@myXXXXXX.mail.crm.ondemand.com (for B2B flow) cod.servicerequest@myXXXXXXmail.crm.ondemand.com (for B2C flow)
the mails are still received in SAP and service tickets are created, even if I deactivated all the communication channels - email addresses, that include these email addresses and not my new mail address.
So I am surprised that although do no longer have activated mail channels with the two technical SAP mail addresses, I still receive the inbound messages as I did before and that I do not receive messages for which I set up new channels and did the verification.
If I sent a mail to my new email address demoservices@mycompany.com, which is included in my communication channels and for which I have ran the verification, emails do not enter the SAP system nor do I receive a web service message with an error.
What causes this behavior? What is happening somewhere behind the scenes with the 'technical' addresses? What makes the technical email addresses still work if channels are no longer activated?
