In the backoffice the new function bulk edit is very handy to change multiple items at once. Unfortunately if selecting them all then only the first page is edited. Anybody an idea how it could work like the csv export? The edit should be done on all items of the search.

I do not see it as a limitation. It is a feature common to every application which enables a user to perform some action on the collection of items spread across multiple pages in a UI e.g. if you access any email inbox (say, yahoo email), by clicking the SELECT ALL checkbox only the emails in the current page are selected and if you want any action to be performed on the emails displayed in other pages, you need to click NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons and select the one/multiple/all emails on those pages before you perform any action (e.g. move the selected emails to a folder). In fact, I have never seen a UI of any popular application where there is any such feature as to select items across all pages by clicking the SELECT ALL checkbox on a particular page.
You can notice in that attached screenshot that I have edited 50 items in one go by clicking SELECT ALL checkbox in the first 2 pages and then performing the BULK EDIT action on the products selected from these 2 pages.

Alternatively, you can use the Excel Export feature to export the records, edit the records offline and import the excel again using Excel Import feature. Please check https://help.hybris.com/1811/hcd/2947ba854b494b14892ce56fa2a75ce2.html for more information.

True the most tools are only selecting on the current page, however then they implement this for all functions in the same way. In the backoffice it is confusing. The Excel functionality has another behaviour than the bulk edit behaviour. It works the same when selecting a few items, but different when using the select all.
Not being able to select all your search results is a pity.
You are referring to e-mail browser tools. Look how g-mail has implemented it, no confusing possible and you have both options
I saw this on other tools too
