auto update sales opportunity when quotation changes

We have started to use Sales Opportunities in SAP B1 and under stages can link to a sales quotation. We will often update a quotation and re-send to a customer, but the opportunity does not automatically update.

Is there a way to update an opportunity total based on an attached quotation if the quotation changes?

I thought perhaps we could record the sales opportunity doc number against a quotation in a UDF, then when updating a quote check that field and update the opportunity (somehow)

I notice this thread which I think is a similar issue.

I struggle to see why this wouldn't be default functionality, unless it is assumed a quotation would not be updated, but rather a new one supplied?
