Dear,
I have created a Product Category tree in hybris marketing.
It contains a.o. following branch:
CAT1 -> CAT1.1 -> CAT1.1.1
(so CAT1.1.1's parent is CAT1.1, and his parent is CAT1).
I have assigned CAT1 to an item of interest INTR1
I have uploaded a product, product 9876, that belongs to CAT1.1.1
in the Products app in hybris marketing I clearly see that the tree is respected as product 9876 shows category CAT1 -> CAT1.1 -> CAT1.1.1
I now created a SALES_ORDER interaction with product 9876 in it.
I am surprised that the item of interest INTR1 is NOT determined.
Should I really assign all of the lowest level categories like CAT1.1.1 explicitly to INTR1 as well? Can the interest determination not see that CAT1 which is a parent of CAT1.1.1 is assigned to an interest?
PS I also tried a different product with direct assignment to CAT1 and then in a sales order on that product the interest is determined, so no problem with determining interests based on categories, but an issue with determining interest based on inheritance of parent categories.

I will create an Idea on the SAP Influence page for this in case this functionality is currently not yet possible, but is there anyone who could confirm that this is indeed the case that we NEED to assign items of interest to the lowest level of our category tree (= a huge amount of assignments plus issues when new subcategories are added), or if there is some way to make the interest assignment inherited from the top level category? (custom logic?)
