Add a role selection page on backoffice before logging in.

Hi Experts,

We have a requirement, where if a user has a specific role (say XYZ), then there should be an option to choose the role (XYZ or Non-XYZ) after logging in to backoffice, and then the user should be shown the tabs in navigation and other items on backoffice based on the role he has selected. We can restrict and show menu items based on roles, but I wanted to check, can we introduce a new landing page after logging in to backoffice, for role selection and set the role for that user, based on what is selected on that page. Currently OOTB there is an option to pick perspectives(authority groups) in backoffice. But we do not want to create a new perspective. We want the role to be shown as available option.

Any directions in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Hi ,

Right now there is a role selection page right after login page for user to choose what role is he willing to use at the moment. This page shows for users that are assigned to more then one BackofficeRole. In my opinion it would be best to just create a BackofficeRole entity for XYZ and Non-XYZ, configure widgets so that they are restricted to those roles and UI looks different depending on selected role and then assign those roles appropriately to users.

Isn't this the perspective that comes up in options? Or this is the role.... Can you please guide how we can add other roles here..

This is exactly it. You pick a role that you wish to use at this point. For further information about roles concept in Backoffice, please go through this document.
