On October 9, 2020, we offered a virtual SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop to present a variety of perspectives on “Innovation powering the Intelligent Enterprise”.
In the interactive workshop, we took a closer look at customer innovation initiatives and SAP’s related services and solution offerings. Selected customers, dedicated SAP executives and subject matter experts shared their views, experiences, and best practices with regards to continuous innovation for continuous success.
Especially when faced with challenging situations, technology innovations can make a real difference. This was impressively shown in the opening sequence to the workshop: back in April 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic halted global travel, SAP built a secure, scalable repatriation app in just 24 hours’ time to help the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs bring stranded German citizens back home safely.
The important aspect of collaborative innovation was also emphasized in the opening speech of the workshop hosts, Dr. Stephanie Ann Lockemann (Head of Premium Engagements, Services Middle & Eastern Europe, SAP) and Ara Aguzumtsyan (Head of Innovation Services & Solutions, Services Middle & Eastern Europe, SAP): after touching upon the manifold faces of innovation and outlining various perspectives and opportunities of collaborative innovation, they encouraged the audience to actively share their experiences and views with regards to this broad topic area during the workshop.

The workshop was kicked-off with a customer presentation.
Mr. Rinat Gimranov, Head of IT Division at PJSC «Surgutneftegas», a long-term SAP MaxAttention customer, gave an insightful presentation about past, present and future innovation activities that the company has been running jointly with SAP’s services and support team. Their large-scale SAP HANA implementation project started back in 2012 and has enabled them to continuously optimize and simplify systems and processes, boost efficiency and productivity while at the same time reducing costs significantly. And there is a lot of potential for further co-innovation: Surgutneftegas is looking into the area of Automation and Ontology, for example by integrating Digital Twins and Inforobots into current SAP solutions.

During an interactive interlude moderated by Jacqueline Roper (Global Innovation Services Portfolio Owner for Premium Engagements, Senior Innovation Enterprise Solution Architect, Customer Success, SAP), attendees were encouraged to share their innovation approaches and their individual experiences with regards to their respective innovation journeys. Following this, three parallel breakout sessions allowed an interactive exchange in smaller groups.
Here is a brief summary of the three breakout sessions:
Business Innovation Framework for SAP S/4HANA: A systematic approach to realize value through tech-driven business innovation.
In this session, Lars Friedrich (Innovation & Technology Director, Service Business Office, Services MEE, Customer Success, SAP) presented how a successful journey to SAP S/4HANA can be enabled and accelerated by leveraging intelligent technologies and building individual innovation roadmaps.

Leveraging Data & Analytics in your Journey towards the Intelligent Enterprise.
In this breakout session, Christian Baehr (Head of Data Warehousing & Data Management Center of Expertise EMEA, Services, Customer Success, SAP) and Habeebuddin Mohammed (Services Architecture Expert, Services, Customer Success, SAP) outlined the importance of Data and Analytics for customers’ individual innovation journeys: Data and Analytics are core differentiators when it comes to ensuring transparency and integration, and SAP offers a dedicated support model to help customers leverage this potential.

Intelligent Custom Code Management: From a challenge to an opportunity on the way to an Intelligent Enterprise.
In this breakout session, Jürgen Mahler (Head of Custom Code Management, SAP Intelligent Delivery Group, Customer Success SAP), and Jens Dirnberger (SAP S/4HANA Innovation Office, SAP Innovative Services and Solutions, Customer Success SAP) provided an overview of custom code optimizations and simplifications to add value and ensure streamlined process quality for customers.

To emphasize SAP’s services and solutions that are available to help our customers on their innovation journey from ideation to realization, Jacqueline Roper (Global Innovation Services Portfolio Owner for Premium Engagements, Senior Innovation Enterprise Solution Architect, Customer Success, SAP) and Anton Schoeffmann (Head of Innovation Services and Solutions for AT/CEE/CH/CIS, Customer Success, SAP) gave a joint presentation about this topic.
Innovative Services and Solutions: Bringing Innovation Ideation to Execution
Jacqueline and Anton outlined the various perspectives on innovation and provided insights into the SAP Innovation Services and Solutions portfolio as an enabler for successful innovation journeys: This portfolio is designed to deliver purpose-driven, rapid innovation based on a holistic, strategic approach geared towards successful business outcomes.
SAP’s innovation services and solutions are prepared to meet each customer at the place that matters to them most - and wherever they are. This means that SAP is delivering business outcomes that provide additional value to the enterprise. With seamless integration into the SAP MaxAttention Framework, SAP ensures continuity and success for a customer’s transformation journey.

After an eventful agenda and insightful conversations, Stephanie and Ara concluded the workshop in their final wrap-up session.
