On March 16-18, the virtual SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop took place. SAP experts shared the latest details and experiences for “SAP Business Technology Platform”, providing the SAP MaxAttention customers with a prescriptive, harmonized set of recommendations, guidance, leveraging industry best practices on their journey to the Intelligent Enterprise. The agenda of this workshop can be found here.
The first day has started with the introduction of SAP Business Technology Platform as a foundation of the Intelligent Enterprise providing an overview; how it accelerates the transformation of data into business value. In this session SAP Experts focused on the business centricity, unified platform and open architecture, showing the main pillars like database and data management, analytics, intelligent technologies and application development and integration.
Next, we moved to platform architecture, learning how it supports the onnovation in data-driven application & intelligent processes, putting the strategic vision how the SAP BTP becomes more actionable on an engineering and architectural level.
It was decideded to speak about the premium support services on the first day of the workshop to provide you with an overview for all available service-and-support options and justify the value of premium methodology and implementation best practices.
SAP Premium Engagement have developed scenarios aligned to the SAP Business Technology Platform covering analytics, data management, application development & integration, and intelligent technologies that will guide you through this journey.

Concluding the first day of the workshop SAP Experts presented how SAP Business Technology Platform powers the SAP’s integrated intelligent suite. We presented the examples how SAP BTP delivers smooth, seamless experiences by integrating data and processes across SAP solutions and other applications. On top, we emphasized the importance of SAP BTP in supporting SAP’s industry cloud to deliver innovative, vertical solutions to drive cost effective transformation and sustainable growth.
The second day of the workshop started with a data and analytics session. We introduced the Data Management and Analytics paradigm of span, amount, quality and usage and how these elements are manifested in the SAP BTP. We also presented the examples of value chain and how SAP BTP can solve various challenges in bringing data to action.
Then, we spoke how to make the information assets available and actionable across the enterprise. In this session we discovered how to orchestrate data centrally without requiring centralization of the data. We reviewed different options how to scale data storage cost-efficiently with multi-cloud support providing extreme flexibility of cloud, hybrid and on-prem deployments. How to make data of any size and shape available to people, algorithms, and data-driven applications with the online access.
Next, we moved beyond classic analytics. In this session we explained how to ensure relevant and reliable X- and O-data and predictive data for real-time AI, analytics and insights. We presented the end-to-end data management and decision-making solution(s) designed for business and enterprise-grade experiences, and introduced the diagnostic, descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analysis capabilities of SAP solutions including demo and customer examples.
Concluding the second day of the workshop we spoke about the service portfolio for analytics and data management. Following the SAP MaxAttention methodology, customers are offered 3 different level of services:
The last day of the workshop started with an introduction of SAP BTP Integration and Extension Suite. We reviewed the considerations how to simplify enterprise integration with an open, modular and intelligent integration suite.
SAP Integration Suite accelerates enterprise-grade integration of hybrid, heterogeneous landscapes using out-of-the-box content to seamlessly integrate end-to-end processes, data, and apps.
SAP Extension Suite extends LoB solutions or builds new business apps quickly to fit your specific needs without disrupting your key business processes, while leveraging existing investments and expertise.
Next, we extended our knowledge with the best practices for SAP Business Technology Platform multi-cloud environments including its technical architecture and flawless migration strategy, roadmap and execution. SAP has formed strategic partnerships with hyperscale cloud vendors: Where customers will benefit from developer agility, flexibility and reliability; and where customers and partners will benefit from the additional services only offered on multi-cloud – such as business application studio, integration suite, process visibility, ABAP in the cloud and work zone.
The SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop concluded with the overview session for SAP S/4HANA Extensibility powered by SAP Business Technology Platform. We spoke about side-by-side extension patterns to keep SAP S/4HANA core clean, such as:
We promoted the decision framework how to approach extensibility and add value to customer extensions and create competitive advantage.

The SAP MaxAttention Innovation Workshop concluded with the overview session for SAP S/4HANA Extensibility powered by SAP Business Technology Platform. We spoke about side-by-side extension patterns to keep SAP S/4HANA core clean, such as:
- Software engineering principle that allows enhancements without impairing existing system functions.
- Extensions that can add new functionality or modify existing functionality.
- Extensions that can decouple the standard functionality from the extension.
- There are clearly defined extensibility concepts, which make sure that extensions can not prevent a system upgrade and extensions work afterwards (regression testing necessary for certain scenarios).
- APIs used as stable contracts of communication between systems that can’t be changed without notice (governed by deprecation policies),
- Extensibility “only option” for SaaS and SAP S/4 HANA Cloud,
- New extensibility concepts and technologies with Key User Extensibility and SAP BTP.
We promoted the decision framework how to approach extensibility and add value to customer extensions and create competitive advantage.
