A few months I ago I had written a blog about one the major simplification elements within what S/4HANA offers to the utilities industry:
https://blogs.sap.com/2018/03/05/introducing-s4hana-utilities-for-customer-management-s4crm/. Today I am happy to add an additional chapter to that – let me explain how the simplification journey continues, and mention two highlights which are new in release 2 (that you can install as add-on top of your SAP S/4HANA 1809 system).
From a data model point of view, the 1809 release brings harmonization of technical master data. This means very popular CRM 7 functions such as Premise Overview (showing a premise-centric data environment independent of the confirmed business partner) and creation of technical master data using configurable templates are now available within S4CRM. Unlike in CRM 7 they directly access well-known IS-U master data (connection object, premise, point-of-delivery, installation) without data replication – remember there is no Middleware required to run S/4HANA Utilities for Customer Management (S4CRM).
A second key feature is the enhanced identification screen, allowing S4CRM users to search business and technical master data in parallel, and including the option to use a new HANA-based Free Text Search. Following the “best of IS-U and CRM” principle, we also re-included the very popular one-click actions (and yes, we did hear that our customers implementing release 1 have been missing them a lot): Starting from the various data environment trees within the Interaction Center, configurable one-click actions allow you e.g. to confirm search results, navigate to further details, start delivered or custom-built processes.
