All good things come in threes: Continuing my previous blogs Introducing S/4HANA Utilities for Customer Management (S4CRM) and S/4HANA Utilities for Customer Management (S4CRM) – the journey continues, I am happy to share some news about the simplified version of CRM embedded into SAP's digital core S/4HANA.

While the previous versions of S/4HANA Utilities for customer management (available with 1709 FPS01 and 1809) used to be an add-on, that you need to install on top of S/4HANA, this is not required any more with 1909. Technically software component S4CRM is now fully embedded into the S/4HANA stack (including its features specific to the utilities industry), hence no separate installation of an add-on is required to make use of it (*)

And what's new in 1909 for the utilities industry? The main topic of the 1909 release is certainly the first version of the redesigned (utilities) sales contract management. First, following the approach of the harmonized data model in S/4HANA, it leverages the powerful and flexible material master in S/4HANA to define utilities products. Product managers can define these products either directly in the S/4HANA system or in external systems – and make use of the new Utilities Product Integration Layer to bring these products into S/4HANA. Second, we simplified the configuration of contract management processes in S/4HANA Utilities for customer management by offering additional customizing options to personalize, among many, the new guided process for creating utilities sales contracts. Third, it has got a configurable and extensible customer 360 view - which allows the agent to see the data environment of the respective business partner while working on a sales contract management process. And finally there are new APIs which facilitate integration to Cloud systems, such as SAP Commerce Cloud Telco & Utilities accelerator.

If you want to learn more about S/4HANA Utilities for customer management please visit SAP Help Portal (https://help.sap.com/viewer/product/SAP_S4HANA_FOR_CUSTOMER_MANAGEMENT – updated recently to reflect all 1909 release details) or join me at the upcoming S/4HANA for the Utilities Industry seminar taking place in Berlin on 22/23 October.
(*) Please note, the licensing model has not changed, the Utilities industry version of customer management has separate licenses.
