With the new 1911 release, SAP has provided the much needed and most sort out functionality of determining the sales area data automatically during the creation of an account.
There is a two-step approach to fulfill this requirement
Employee Master Data update with default Sales Area
Edit the employee master data and add the default Sales Area Data for all the employees in the system.
The main flag should be checked, even though you are assigning only one sales area to an employee record.
Activation of new workflow rule
Create a new workflow rule for Accounts BO with the action "Create Sales Data for My Default Sales Responsibility"
Create a new account and save the account. The Sales Area Data is automatically determined and assigned to the new account created by the employee for whom the default sales area was maintained in the employee master data.
Some pointers to be noted
If you are using the "Derive Territory" action workflow rule, and the territory determination rules involves the usage of Sales Organization then this this workflow rule should not have the Timing "On Every Save" or "On Create-Only". The sales area data is assigned only during the initial save of the account and hence the territory will not be determined because both the workflows are triggered at the same event.
SAP's proposed suggestion to solve this issue, is by using the "Scheduled" timing for the "Derive Territory" action workflow. We scheduled this workflow based on the below scheduling conditions and the territory was determined correctly but with a time lag.
I hope many of the customer would love this new 1911 feature, as we had so many complaints from our end users. We already proposed we will implement this after the production tenant upgrade and we are getting very positive feedback from end users.
