Introduction
Hello everyone! I received the "Blog it Forward" baton from @sumikko , who organizes community with me, and I am writing this post now. Thank you, Sumikko-san, for this great opportunity! You can read Sumikko-san's post [here] and learn more about the BIF challenge [here].
About Me
My name is Mino Kato. Since "Mino" is a rare name in Japan, people usually call me by my first name rather than a nickname.
I have been working as an SAP consultant in the accounting area for many years. Recently, I have been focusing on projects involving S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition (now SAP Cloud ERP), specifically sticking to the "Fit to Standard" approach. I am also an organizer for chillSAP, a local SAP community in Japan, along with Sumikko-san.
Although I am not a developer myself, I love catching up on BTP extension-related and AI-related knowledge that helps users utilize the system more conveniently. This passion motivates my community activities and my multiple participations in SAP TechEd.
My Encounter with SAP
I joined an IT company as a new graduate. After training, the first project I was assigned to along with several colleagues was already in trouble, and we were thrown in as testing personnel. While the business trips and the relationships with the people I worked with are good memories, I suddenly experienced the difficulty of building a system from scratch (or rather, the chaos involving many people when things go wrong).
So, when that project ended and I was given the choice, "Do you want to be involved in Web development or ERP projects next?", I chose ERP without hesitation and went to receive SAP training.
When I saw the SAP system screen (GUI at the time) for the first time, my impression was: "Wow! The buttons are so detailed, and their shapes are perfectly aligned!"
It might sound funny now, but after seeing the chaos, I was moved by the order. Of course, I now know that ERP projects are also difficult and have their own challenges...
Participating in SAP TechEd
Under the mission of "Let's catch up on SAP's new technologies and think of new services" at the company I belonged to at the time, I participated in SAP TechEd for the first time in 2018. I had participated in SAP Inside Track Tokyo in Japan before and felt that TechEd would be interesting. Actually participating, I was able to feel the passion of global engineers and participants from Japan. I thought, "Ah, I love places where we can have these kinds of conversations," which became the trigger for me to actively involve myself in community activities.

Encounter with the Community
During the "Japan Night" at TechEd, I was scouted to speak at SAP Inside Track Tokyo, and presenting on the theme of Design Thinking was a very good experience. I originally loved listening to other people's presentations, but participating as a speaker was an experience that broke down a wall for me. Since that presentation, I think I have become able to jump into various places with lighter footwork.
Long ago, when I started touching SAP, if I ran into something I didn't understand in the finance module, I could only ask seniors at my company or guess the mechanism from SAP Notes information. But now, compared to before, help documents and KBAs are substantial, and we can gain various insights through QA or Blogs in the global community.
And furthermore, it is very stimulating and happy if I can read it in Japanese... Based on such motivation, the SAP Advent Calendar, LT (Lightning Talk) event, and various events of the community "chillSAP" started.
My Favorite Things (Fun Facts)
I love going to the theater. My eyes are glued to living humans unfolding action such as dancing and sword fighting right in front of me. I go to watch ballet, musicals, popular theater, and "2.5-dimensional" plays quite often recently. The opera I watched in between TechEd Berlin the other day was also wonderful. After the pandemic, my spirit of "Let's watch what I want to see live while I can!" has spurred on. I get energy from the stage and turn it into vitality for my daily life.
Sitting in a chair for a long time for theatergoing is bad for the body, but I think doing Yoga regularly helps with that. I like "Ashtanga Yoga," which is quite hard for yoga.

Answers to BIF Questions
1. If you were 20 again, what would you study?
I might try to get a degree in accounting and get closer to a CPA qualification. In promoting "Fit to Standard," I sometimes feel that having a qualification is easy to understand to be recognized as a specialist in the accounting area. However, learning it after becoming a working adult competes with too many other things I want to learn (English, other foreign languages, SAP and AI technology catch-up), so... But I have no regrets about proceeding to the path of IT by becoming interested in computers while doing experiments and programming in the science department. If I had proceeded to the path of accounting, there is a high possibility that I would not be doing my current job, so I feel it is asking for the moon after all. I will continue to study accounting within the range I can now.
2. What is the most important thing you learned from your parents?
Rather than "learned," it is what they "gave" me. They gave me many books since I was a child, and perhaps due to my original preference, I grew up to be a book lover, which I think is my asset now. I loved experiencing different worlds through picture books and children's books. As I grew up, I read many books including manga, and I was able to know various ways of life and ways of thinking. Being a book lover is also useful when learning new technologies and knowledge now. I love the feeling of my world expanding.

自己紹介
改めまして、加藤美野です。
「みの」という名前が珍しいので、ニックネームというよりは名前で呼ばれることが多いです。
会計領域のSAPコンサルタントとして長く仕事をしています。最近は S/4HANA Cloud, public edition (現 SAP Cloud ERP）を Fit to Standard で導入する、ということにこだわったプロジェクトをやっています。
また、日本ローカルのSAPコミュニティ chillSAP の運営を、すみっこさんと一緒にやっています。
私自身は開発者ではありませんが、ユーザが便利にシステムを使えるようにするためのBTP拡張関連やAI関連の知識をキャッチアップするのが好きです。これは、コミュニティ活動や、SAP TechEdに複数回参加するモチベーションにもつながっています。
SAPとの出会い
新卒でIT企業に入り、最初に配属されたプロジェクトはすでにトラブル状態で、同期と一緒にテスト要員として参画しました。出張生活も人とのつながりも良い経験でしたが、ゼロからシステムを作る難しさ、失敗の重さをいきなり体感することになりました。
その後
「Web開発とERPのどちらに進むか？」という選択肢をもらったとき、迷わずERPを選び、SAP会計領域のトレーニングに進みました。
初めてSAPシステムの（当時はGUIの）画面を見たときの感想は「ボタンの形が細かくきれいに揃ってる…すごい…！」でした😂
もちろん今となっては、ERPプロジェクトだって難しいし、大変なことがたくさんあると実感していますが…
SAP TechEd に参加する
2018年、当時所属していた会社で「SAPの新しい技術をキャッチアップして新しいサービスを考えよう」というミッションのもと、初めてSAP TechEdに参加しました。
もともと日本で SAP Inside Track Tokyo には参加していて、「TechEd は面白そうだな」と感じていましたが、実際参加してみて、グローバルの技術者の熱量、日本からの参加者の熱量に触れ、「あ、私はこういう話ができる場所が好きだなあ」と思ったことがコミュニティ活動に積極的にかかわるきっかけになりました。
コミュニティとの出会い
TechEd 期間中のJapan Nightで、SAP Inside Track Tokyoへの登壇のスカウトがあり、Design Thinking をテーマで登壇したことが良い経験になりました。
人の発表を聞くのはもともと大好きなのですが、自分もスピーカーとして参加したことで、ひとつ壁を越えた経験になりました。さらにそれ以降はフットワーク軽くなり、いろんなイベントや取り組みに飛び込めるようになったと感じています。
はるか昔、自分がSAPを触り始めたころは、会計モジュールで分からないことがあれば、先輩に聞くか、SAPノートの情報から仕組みを推測するしかありませんでした。今はヘルプ文書やKBAが充実し、グローバルコミュニティのQAからも多くの知見を得られます。
さらにさらに、それが日本語で読めたらとても刺激になるし嬉しい…
という思いが、SAPアドベントカレンダーだし、LT大会だし、コミュニティchillSAPの様々なイベントにつながっています。
SAP TechEd のときに味わった「SAPについてがっつりと話していても浮かない！」という喜びをオンラインとオフラインで共有する場として、とても楽しく活動を続けています。

今後もLT大会や、アドベントカレンダー（ブログ企画）、SAPさんとの Inside Track Tokyo 共同運営、あるいは気軽な飲み会（SAP Stammtisch) など、いろいろ企画していきたいです。
好きなこと
舞台を観に行くのが好きです。
踊りや殺陣など生身の人間が目の前でアクションを繰り広げてくれる迫力に目がくぎ付けになっています。
バレエやミュージカル、大衆演劇、2.5次元舞台など、最近はかなりの頻度で観に行っています。先日、ベルリンでの TechEd の合間に観たオペラも素晴らしかったです。
コロナ禍を経て「見たいものは観れるときに観よう！」の精神に拍車がかかりました。舞台からエネルギーをもらって、日々の活力にしています。
とはいえ、観劇のために長時間椅子に座っているのは体に良くないのですが、そこは普段から続けているアシュタンガヨガ（少しハードなタイプのヨガ）が役に立っている気がします。
BIF質問への回答
もし20歳にもどったら何を勉強しますか？
会計の学位を取って、会計士に近づく勉強をしてみるかもしれません。Fit to Standard を進める中で、会計領域の専門性をわかりやすく示す場面で資格が役立つだろうなと感じることがあるためです。
ただ、理系で実験やプログラミングを通じてITに興味を持ち、今の仕事につながっているので、その選択に後悔はないです。もし会計の道に進んでいたら今のキャリアはなかった可能性が高いので、結局「ないものねだり」ですね。
これからも、できる範囲で会計の勉強も続けていきたいと思います。
両親から学んだ大切なこと
「学んだ」というよりは両親から「与えてもらったもの」ですが、子供のころから本をたくさん与えてくれて（もともとの嗜好もあるかもしれませんが）本好きに育ったことは今の自分の財産だなあと思っています。
絵本や児童書を通じて別の世界を体験することが大好きでしたし、マンガも含めたくさんの本を読んで、様々な人生の在り方や考え方に触れることができました。
新しい技術や知識を学ぶときにも、本好きであることは役立っています。
