Svea Becker (SB): How and when did you get in SAP Community?

Shaik: I got involved in the SAP Community several years ago as part of my professional journey as an Integration Architect. In 2011 I started working with SAP the first time in various modules.

My primary focus has always been on SAP Integration Suite, and when I had an issue in 2017, I created a ticket but got no reply. A few days later, a colleague told me to create a question in SAP Community. I raised my first question, and I received answer in 10 minutes. In 10 minutes! I began exploring the SAP Community to enhance my knowledge and stay updated with the latest trends. Over time, I started actively engaging by reading blogs, participating in discussions, and later contributing my own content. I realized that the community was a fantastic platform to learn and share insights with others who faced similar challenges.

SB: 10 minutes! That is really cool! After some year in SAP Community, what does it mean to you?

Shaik: The SAP Community is valuable to me; it’s a space for learning, collaboration, and growth. It provides an opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals, exchange knowledge, and address real-world integration challenges. Being part of this community allows me to continuously refine my skills and contribute to a collective knowledge base that benefits everyone. For me, the community has become an essential aspect of my career development and professional networking.

Being part of SAP Community.is very important with reading and writing blogs. It’s a sense of belonging which I feel also from other global professionals, who shared similar passion for the SAP Community.

SB: What is your main expertise/background?

Shaik: I am a passionate SAP Integration Architect with over 13 years of experience working in both SAP and non-SAP integrations. My primary expertise is in SAP Integration Suite, where I design and implement integration solutions that streamline business processes. I have hands-on experience with Cloud Integration, API Management, Integration Advisor, and PI/PO. Over the years, I have earned 25+ certifications, including the prestigious Integration Blackbelt, which reflects my commitment to continuous learning and professional growth. I also presented already at several events.

SB: Really? Fabulous. Which community events did you participate in?

Shaik: I was a speaker at 4 events in 2023 in India like SAP Inside Track and SAP TechEd.

My first presentation was at SAP Inside Track in Bangalore in March 2023 and about SAP Integration Suite implementation from Customer Perspective. My second event was SAP Inside Track in May 2023 in Hyderabad, about SAP BTP Integration Suite overview and real-world scenarios. Here I met a lot of other community members like Mahesh, Ruthvik and Abhishek. I also had the pleasure of meeting Ranjeet Kumar, Syambabu, and SAP Champion Kunal during SIT Bangalore. It was great connecting with them!

After that I had the opportunity to present at SAP Inside Track Bangalore again in August 2023. Here I talked about Integration Black Belt as this is also one of my expertise. I have been also recognized as a speaker winner at this event! In addition, I was part of several online talks like “Let’s talk SAP” organized by a colleague of mine, and an online webinar called “Dream Career Talk Show”.

SB: Thanks for sharing that experience. That is awesome! And congratulations on being a speaker winner. What happened after you joined these events? Did you have a different feeling about SAP Community?

Shaik: Yes, because I got to collaborate with other speakers with different backgrounds and expertise and even different geographical locations. They all come together to share knowledge about complex problems. That is incredibly motivating and made a difference for me after joining these events.

Before I was just doing my usual work. After joining the events, I am motivated to do some more for the community. I do 1 % for the community and I get 10 % back. I am getting the certificates, the badges and that gives me so much confidence in my career, and I am eager to help people when they approach me.

SB: What “highlight” do you want to share?

Shaik: One of my highlights was to be a presenter at SAP TechEd 2023 in Bangalore. I presented about the topic “Low-Code API Development with SAP Integration Suite. There I met so many other SAP Mentors, SAP product team members, your colleagues Mynyna and Katherine and also SAP Community leaders like Kathleen and Craig. I even met Jürgen Müller, with whom I had a long talk.

I see that I have more opportunities to connect with other leaders when I am a speaker. I am well connected now. When you are only an attendee you just come to the events, listen and learn, and leave.

SB: Did you join any events in 2024?

Shaik: Yes, I was a speaker at SAP Inside Track in Bangalore in July 2024.

SB: Cool. Do you have any plans for your future in SAP Community? (if any, in which area)

Shaik: My future plans in the SAP Community involve further strengthening my contributions by continuing to share my experiences and learning with others. I also plan to mentor newer members of the community and help them navigate the complexities of SAP integration. As I continue to explore new technologies and trends, I aim to write more blogs, present webinars, and engage in discussions to further enrich the community and keep the knowledge flow active.

I also want to continue being a speaker at events but next year, I would like to get into organizing an event. I have already connected with other organizers, and I would like to join them to organize the next event in Bangalore.

I also would like to plan an event about one product: SAP Integration Suite – there are so many topics included and I would like to dedicate one event to this product only.

SB: What would you like to get from other SAP Community or community members?

Shaik: From the SAP Community, I would love to receive more feedback on my contributions, especially in the form of suggestions for improvement or deeper dives into specific integration topics. I also appreciate collaborative discussions where we can collectively brainstorm solutions to integration challenges. Engaging with peers and experts in the field helps me broaden my perspective and stay updated on the latest advancements in SAP.

SB: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Shaik: I would like to emphasize that the SAP Community has been a major driving force in my career development. The relationships I have built, the knowledge I’ve gained, and the insights I’ve shared have all shaped who I am today as an SAP professional. For those just starting in SAP or looking to deepen their expertise, I would recommend getting involved in the community early on. The more you engage, the more you’ll gain in terms of knowledge, support, and growth opportunities. I’m excited to continue being part of this vibrant community and to contribute as much as I can in the future.

I also would like to share my journey towards becoming an SAP Champion in the SAP Community. Throughout my career, I’ve always believed in the power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing. As I engaged more with the community by writing technical blogs and participating in discussions, I realized how much I enjoyed giving back to the community that had helped me grow. Becoming an SAP Champion would be a significant milestone for me, as it would validate my contributions and encourages me to continue sharing my insights with others.

SB: Thank you so much for sharing your impressive story and all the activities. Also in Linkedin it's really nice to see so, what you are doing. I love your activities and I also love your story coming from simply asking a question and then providing and going to events so that's really really nice. Please continue your great engagement in SAP Community.

Shaik: Thank you and I am grateful that you considered me for this initiative.
