We have an exciting new challenge in store for you! We want to know how creative you are and start an Origami Challenge!

From today onwards, until SAP TechEd in 2021, Nov 17 to be more specific, you have time to share with us your most creative piece of folded paper art. Any patterns, samples, designs are welcome and we would love to see how creative you are. Feel free to share your art pieces in the comment section below in this blog post already. We would love to hear your story, too! What brought you to folding paper designs?
There will be a dedicated voting thread created in our recently launched SAP Community Coffee Corner Group where we allow your submission from Nov 11 - Nov 17! (We want to give everyone enough time to vote on the respective submissions).
How do you make a living folding paper? -- Potentially you've never asked yourself that question before, but I know someone who did.

It's my pleasure to introduce you to professional paper artist Paul Jackson!

Paul found a new use for paper, namely writing letters and giving teaching lessons. He was teaching Origami designs, his own designs, the products of folding, like horses and butterflies etc. However, what he really wanted to teach was the process and the techniques of folding.
Paul Jackson has written over 40 books in total and he calls his art pieces "folded paper sculptures" rather than origami designs.

"Folding paper is something anybody can do, anywhere, anytime."

For those of you who haven't yet done any origami in the past and are totally new to this fascinating type of art, guess what - we invited Paul Jackson to a Coffee Corner Meet-Up on November 4, 4-5pm CET, for him to give you a sneak peek into the world of Origami and to teach you 2 models that you can use as part of the contest. This session is for all experience levels, absolute beginners are most welcome to the session and to enter the challenge - no experience is necessary.
During our Coffee Corner Meet-Up on Nov 4, we will cover:

  • Introduction of Paul Jackson and the phenomenon of folding

  • Teach a Model: You will need an A4 sheet of copy paper (It is recommended to have a few sheets available). These models can be used as part of the origami challenge

  • Origami in Art & Science: Insights into how the origami aesthetic has permeated many aspects of art and science.

  • Q&A: Paul saved some time towards the end of the call to answer questions you might have

Did we spark your interest already? To give it yet another push, I can strongly recommend watching Paul's TedX Talk: Beyond the Fold!

 REGISTER NOW

for our special Coffee Corner Meet-Up with Paul Jackson,
that we especially set up for you to learn more about the art of folding!

As mentioned above, the voting of the challenge will take place in our recently launched SAP Community Coffee Corner Group from Nov 11 - Nov 17.
To make it equally fair to everyone, we will create a thread in our Coffee Corner Group in which you can post your final submission (each member is only allowed to submit one piece of Origami) and subsequently vote (by giving kudos) on everyone’s individual submitted Origami design.

We would love to see your Origami pieces also shared on social media! And stay tuned in Channel 1 at SAP TechEd in 2021, your post might make an appearance ... ! Publish your Origami designs on social media and use the hashtag(s) #SAPCommunity #SAPTechEd #SAPCommunityOrigamiChallenge
Plus, the winner(s) will be invited to our VIP Lounge in the SAP TechEd in 2021 Coffee Corner Meet-Up After-Party on Nov 18 - 5pm CET! // Registration details to come!

We are looking forward to your participation and to seeing you in our upcoming SAP Community Coffee Corner Meet-Up next week!

I've registered, but it conflicts with an SAP Community call so I haven't decided which I'm going to attend. 😞

I guess I have the solution for you, Dell.
I am pretty sure you're referring to "Designing a future where machines and people work in harmony to elevate human ingenuity", right? Please note that there was a change in the timing and the call actually takes place on Dec 8 : https://sap-se.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_bvN1TQVATlCUA28NQXiJcw

Hi Kapil,

In addition to Jerry's suggestion to create an account in Groups, subsequently this is the direct link to the thread I created to vote on the Origami designs: https://groups.community.sap.com/t5/coffee-corner/vote-for-our-origami-challenge/m-p/861

Thanks for your contribution! 🙂
