How can we see the commercial metrics from the instance level?

Hi Team,

Based on the demo video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKgdj5blylU, we can see the commercial metrics is available for you at an instance level. This is however, not in our case and we cannot see it at instance level. This metric is important for us for cross charging. Due to this, we are not able to get charges under the tags which we have done for Cross charging.

From the recording:

How we see from our tenant:

How can we see the commercial metrics from the instance level?

Thanks,

Erwin

Hi Erwin,

Great question.

Could you please confirm whether 'Technical Allocation' has been configured for this service (PostgreSQL)? This is a precondition so the tool knows which Technical Metric to use as distribution key to allocate the cost to the individual instances.

To configure the Technical Allocation, go to the 'Billing Verification' > Your service. In the table with Commercial Metrics, look for the column 'Technical Allocation' (might be hidden) and set one of the Technical Metrics as its value.

Hi Willem,

Thanks for the response. We have configured the Technical Allocation, both for the PostgreSQL service, and also for HANA Cloud to match with your example. It seems that the instance-level commercial metrics are still empty.

Are there other configuration settings we need to take note of?

Thanks,

Erwin

Hi Erwin, make sure to run the collection/calculation job manually after changing the settings (or wait for the 3-hourly automatic job). Billing Verification > Data management > Load data for current month (first menu item). If it still empty afterwards, please contact me on Teams on willem.pardaens-at-sap.com
