A year ago, during my interview I was asked, "How do you handle failure?" Instead of giving a typical answer about resilience and learning from mistakes, I wanted to answer it in a more strategic angle.
I replied, I handle failure with the same mindset as a scientist working on an important experiment. when a hypothesis doesn't yield the expected results, it's not a failure, its valuable data. for example, in my previous role, we launched a marketing campaign that dint meet our projected outcomes. rather than seeing it as a failure, I organized a post-mortem analysis meeting with my team to discuss and understand what went wrong and discovered key insights about our target audience's preferences that we hadn't considered before. This led us to pivot our strategy and the campaign exceeded our goal by 25%.
By treating each setback as a learning opportunity and a source of critical data, I continuously improve and innovate."
This answer highlighted my problem-solving abilities and framed my approach to a failure.
