Dear members,

Greetings to you all,

I'm very new to this forum and in fact for SAP,My quest to know more about SAP BASIS and to seek a perfect guidance drove me to this forum.

I'm working as Senior Network Admin as present and wish to join SAP, since my search-research proved that doing SAP BASIS course would be good for me. I've approx 6 years experience in the area of System administration/network administration, administering Domain/Exchange/Database server based on Microsoft tech. I hold MCITP and CCNA certificates and now I'm planning to switch to SAP career.

Please advise me about the course modules suitable for me and from where to do,I've sent inquiries to various authorized sap education partners but they all reverted back to me with they don't provide BASIS but ABAP would be provided by them.

Please advise.

Many thanks

Siddarth

Hi Anthyodaya,

Many thanks for your kind guidance should I ask for one more suggestion? Myself and a friend of mine with almost same level of qualification and experience are willing to switch to SAP,we inquired from SAP India about the course schedule but being so costly my friend is suggesting that first we should take the course from any unauthorized center and then try to find a job but what my thought is that we should go for the course from SAP India Bangalore and then try to find a job, What would be your suggestion?

Awaiting for the response.

Many thanks,

Siddharth

Hello,

If you have opportunities within your same organisation and if this is an internal job change... you can get to learn from the unauthorized training centres. The trade-off is that you be should be able to make up while you are on the job.

If you prefer to search for a job from a new employer then i would say take up the SAP course from authorised centres like SAP education or siemens in India..

The important part is that you should get yourself certified in the module in which you take up your training.

That will give you a better edge during the job search.

Dear Chandru,

Many thanks for your advise. I've the plan now to go through the course from a non authorized center first to familiarize myself to SAP BASIS and then would join in the next batch of BASIS ADMIN at SAP INDIA.

A bit hesitation - as you may be aware that doing this from SAP INDIA is costly in that case would that be worth doing in terms of finding jobs after the course??

Many thanks,

Siddharth

Hello Siddharth,

Only if you take up the course in authorised academy you will be allowed to do take up the SAP certification.

Since you are about to search for job outside, I feel that if you are certified the possibilities of getting an opportunity is easy...

Being certified is important in your case, because you are fresh to SAP and you can take up the certification if and only you get trained in authorised training centres.

Getting trained in authorised centres alone isnt important... Being SAP certified counts alot... It doesn't mean that all of who ever work in different modules of SAP are certified... as you are new to SAP I feel that you need to be certified..

In terms of a job, I am not sure how it would be if your getting trained in unauthorized centres.

Chandru

Hi Chandru,

Many thanks for your kind advice and for sparing time to this, I'm sorry for replying late as I was on a tour. As you have suggested I've decided now to go through the SAP BASIS ADMIN course from SAP INDIA only on their next batch and I'm waiting to get the schedule from them.

Best regards,

Siddharth
