Dear Arindam,

As you have a good knowledge in sales and marketing business and in HR business.

you can start in below function modules

     SD - Sales and Distribution

Or HCM - human Capital Management

If you prefer to start with a technical module you can choice BI - Business intelligence which you can merge between your business knowledge and technical knowledge.

Hi Amr Elsherif,

Thanks for your quick reply.

So SAP SD or SAP HCM don't have technical module? is it difficult to become a Technical Consultant for a person who don't having supporting degree (e.g. BE / BTECH)?

SAP CRM is not related with Marketing?

SAP ABAP or SAP HANA or SAP BASIS is not suitable for me?

Thanks,

Arindam

Dear Arindam,

Go for SAP HCM Functional, as you already have HR Knowledge.

Once you become Functional, you can learn ABAP and be as a HCM Techno Functional....

But as a first step i believe HCM Functional would be a good choice.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

Before I start collecting material on a particular module, I want to know little bit about

CRM, HANA  & BASIS.

Any of the above module suitable for Marketing Management student? I dont have BE/BTECH degree.

I have another doubt. I have seen in career portal that most of the BE/BTECH back ground students are successful in SAP Career or vis -a- vis. And those candidate got Onsite opportunity also.

@Shaik your suggestion is really good that starting with HCM functional and then move to Technical with ABAP certified.

Thanks,

Arindam

Dear Arindam,

CRM is linked with Marketing.

Hana is a Technology and can be better understood by Technical guys like BE/ Btech.

Basis is more like System Administrator work....

BE/BTech guys have advantage over other people in Technical areas because they can understand easily technical things....however nothing can beat up hardwork....I have a friend Bala, who is from non-technical background but he has put up lots of hardwork and today he is the best abapper....

But in my view you can go for any functional as of now and once you are well experienced you can learn some related technical area and be as a techno functional (which is always in demand)....

All the Best....

Hi Shaik,

Perfect reply.

I want to understand what is the different between a techno-functional and technical guy, intern of job profile, responsibility, importance, job market demand..

What about onsite abroad opportunity?

of course I will start with functional side of any module either CRM or HCM.

and one more thing.....is SAP HCM and SAP HR are two different module?

Thanks,

Arindam

Dear Arindam,

Generally a technical guy is a programmer(eg: ABAP).

A Functional gathers business requirements and does configuration in SPRO (this is the place where SAP has provided solution for every industry) as per business requirements.

Few things do not exist in standard SAP (so functional can not configure in SPRO). Here a functional takes help of technical and he explains the business requirement and technical guy will code for the program.

A Techno Functional is a person who has knowledge of both....Now why a techno functional is always in demand is people with both knowledge are less and secondly he will know exactly wats the business requirement and what output is needed.

Clients prefer technofunctional.

Regarding onsites, first you need to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible.....Eventually onsites will come to you and after a period of time you might even reject onsites 🙂

All the Best.
