Which functional module should I choose

Hello expert,

I have overall 15+ years of experience across in manufacturing company (8+ years) and IT company. This is in Database administration, ERP implementation, project development etc.

I want to switch on SAP. I have decent knowledge of Material Management (Purchase, Stores), Production functionality and sales functionality.

Which functional module should I choose?

On the basis of my work experience which module is suitable for me to make better career in SAP?

Is certification is needed?

Umesh

SAP MM-Material Management is best for you.....

I am a SAP MM consultant since 2 years.

As you have the knowledge of Material Management, so it can be add as a domain experience..

Learn SAP MM for at least 1-2 years, then you can also learn as an integrated module as PP or WM...

Hello DevPatra,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion.....

Is SAP training from SAP authorised institute is required?

Whether certification can get an advantage (in present or in future)?

Self learning option will work?

Thanks in advance.

Certification is a just extra curricular for your career...

Of course Certification will give you more opportunity...

But Certification is not all... You have to very much strong about you functional knowledge..

Certification can't clear you technical round in interview..

If you do Certification, then you can get more interview calls, but for technical round, you have to know more about functional knowledge...

As you want to learn MM module, so I can refer you the document to learn more about MM configuration SAP MM Configuration

Read and try to remember the all things which is explain in this document ...

It will be very helpful for you...

Hi Umesh,

As you mentioned that you have 8+ years of IT experience and also mentioned ERP Implementation, so have you worked in SAP before or is that some other ERP? If you have already experience working in SAP, then I would suggest to choose a module (like MM as you have domain experience on that) and learn on that module to gain knowledge.

Assuming you have not worked in SAP before, then it will be good to get training from SAP authorized institutes and of course certification will give an advantage. Few constraints on this is though you have considerable years of domain experience, you will be considered new to SAP. So need to wait to get a breakthrough into SAP career.

Thanks,

Ramesh
