Hi Everyone,

I am confused here about my career path if I want to do SAP related certification to boost my career. I have a Bachelor in Accounting and ACCA professional certification. My career has been 3 years as auditor and 3 year doing SAP implementation support(for SD module) as end user support.  I am looking into SAP BI module to specialise, however my concerns are where do I start in finding a job after certification?? And does SAP BI module gives me configuration knowledge ??

Any advice is well appreciated.

Hi Tat,

Regarding Job after training and certification is a difficult question to answer and comment. You have been working as  and auditor and doing support for SD module which will not be counted as experience towards BI.

Do a good research in job portals, check with recruitment agencies/friends and see what is the scope of getting a job after BI training and certification, this will give you a good picture of where you stand after learning BI.

If you like BI and want to take it then you may go ahead but do not quit your current job till you get a break in BI. In BI you will have to prepare different reports from data from different sources. Go to https://open.sap.com and register for a free training in BI from SAP, this will give you good insight about BI and then you can take a decision about learning BI.

Hi,

You can go for BI module, BI is good module, Its a component of SAP NetWeaver.

Its communicate information from production module and external sources.

As you wrote "My career has been 3 years as auditor and 3 year doing SAP implementation support(for SD module) as end user support."

Then you have the knowledge of SAP SD Super User. SD is a very welled running module.

Thanks

Hi Naga,

Good advice.  I did have a chat with recruiter agencies and from what I can see is that for BI module, employers prefer experienced stafff with 5+years experience in which something I dun have at the moment. That made me think that BI isnt a good choice.

My 2.5 years SD experience is pretty end user. No config involved.

My contract is ending this month and I was hoping to study something to boosts my resume.

Hi Tat,

I wish you get your contract renewed. Having end user experience in any module of SAP doesn't count towards experience as a SAP Consultant or professional.

If the situation is such that you have to learn something new and make your career and you want it to be in SAP then take sometime and see which module you like and have interest in to learn further. Based on your academic qualification FI & CO makes a right combination but there are other factors to be considered such as getting a job quickly and growth prospects in the location where you are.

Since you are already in touch with recruiters, find out what is the module that is in high demand and companies are looking for, it will help you decide what to study.

Your best bet will be find something which you know that is SD. Get trained in SD module before you jump into other modules.

Good Luck
