Dear Experts and Seniors

Greetings!

I have been working as a sap technical consultant (ABAP) from last 5.5 years mainly in ABAP.

I worked in ABAP HR , WEBDYNPRO ABAP also and some objects in SAP Workflow.

Now at this point of time I want to enhance my skill and i am not sure which module / area is good for me.

As ABAP is cross functional / module so i worked in many functional modules but don't have expertise / business processes knowledge in any functional module.

I heard SAP BI is a good option for those who have strong ABAP background however for SAP BI which is again i believe a technical side then it looks SAP BO is coming and there will be major changes in the product so it is not better to devote learning time in this area now?

Could you please suggest me a better carrer path in which module or direction i should enhance my skills at this point of time.

Best regards

AK

I've been doing SAP Configuration for almost 19 years (since version 1.2b), though I'm new to this forum.

From my personal experience, the best ABAP'ers that I've worked with also have a very good understanding of the Functional side of SAP. When I'm working with a programmer of this level, they have a better understanding of the functionality I'm trying to design, whether it be an Interface, Program or Custom Report. (As a FI/CO expert, I also believe that to be a good Functional Analyst, you must have work experience in the area of your expertise - What good is knowing SAP functionality if you don't know how to prepare a Financial Statement?!).

So, my advice to you would be to take some SAP Functional courses in an area, then start working your way through them...FI or MM would be a good start.
