Dear Jaheer,
Field of SAP is open market, opportunity driven field. There is no defined prerequisite. Even SAP certification is not mandatory.
But on the basis of my own experience, some of prerequisite for SAP career are
Domain Experience
Patience
Financial Backup
Perseverance quality, and on top of all
Live project experience.
Without which one can not get through in the field of SAP.

Hi Jaheer,
Since you are a fresher in SAP, if you are already working in sales then SD- start will help you since you already had been through the sales cycle, try to speak to any of your colleagues/friends regarding the said module, try to gather info about the module. Since sales & SAP-SD are two different thing but when you co-relate they fall in the same place. Also there are institutions who train & finance candidates you can visit them & know the requisites. Thanks Sukant

Hi Jaheer,
In order to become a consultant in SAP or in any field one must have the domain knowledge, experience and some qualification or certification which states that you have gone through some good training and have taken the assessment.
Thank you,
