Hi Folks,

I am into SAP Basis Administration.

So can any one tell me, what a company may expect from me in terms of Basis knowledge(except Security)?

What are all the topics should I have covered with this much of years of experience?

I think, I lack in some of the fields of SAP Basis admin, may be because of limited exposer.

In other words

What are all the topics a 2-3 yrs of experienced guy must have?

Regards,

Rajkumar

Rajkumar,

If you think about it, you already know what topics someone with 2-3 years of experience should have. The recommendation is that someone get a job working with SAP and get some limited training and/or some mentoring to get through the first year. Then after you've been working the job for a while, you go through the official training and certification. By the end of your second year, you should feel pretty comfortable discussing anything on the Competency Area tab at a high level and you should feel pretty comfortable discussing the details of several areas as you've been doing them day to day for 2 years. After three years, you should probably have been exposed to more areas and should be able to address a wider variety of topics in more depth.

You say you're worried that you've had limited exposure. Please describe your day to day duties and perhaps it will be easier to spot the holes for you.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,

Hey Rajkumar,

Looks like you're covering the types of things that typical junior Basis folks do. I wouldn't be too concerned. As your career grows, you'll migrate up the food chain and away from day to day hands-on towards more planning and 2nd/3rd level troubleshooting.

You might want to read FAQ: Middle and Late SAP Career Paths for some ideas as well.

Hope this helps!
